Fuzz Head

You might think I am talking about Carson. Alas, I am not.
I feel like I struggled with all those pregnancy "coulds" that people mention. For instance, not everyone gets to enjoy morning (or all morning, midday, evening, night, and sleeping) sickness; but I did. I had also read that your face could either break out, or clear up while pregnant. I didn't have any facial problems that needed clearing, so my face chose the break-out option. The other things that could've happened which of course did were, spotting (which scared me half to death - I was sick to my stomach with worry until the next dr. appt.), serious swelling, the usual aches, pains and lack of breath, and the most miserable heartburn possible. The latest and greatest could that I have been dealing with is, losing my hair. A few months after I had Carson, I started to lose my hair. It would come out by the fistfulls. I went from just barely being able to get a hairband around my ponytail three times to have room to spare even after the fourth time around. My poor husband and baby have my hair all over them all of the time. There is good news though...my hair is finally coming back in! Because I lost all of that hair at the same time, it has all started coming in at the same time as well. The only problem with this, is now I have a PLETHORA of inch long fuzzy hairs all over my head. I look like I have an aura around my head all of the time. The other morning I took a picture of it (without making it worse than it was) to show just how bad it looks if I don't glue those babies down. I am not complaining though; I would do it all a million times over for my sweet baby.

Um...Gross

My husband recently bought some sunflower seeds which are currently sitting in our car. Seeing these seeds brought back a flood of memories. Some of them I think are worth documenting. It all started when my parents used to take me to sporting events when I was little. It all sounds harmless enough, but it wasn't.

After a while I would get bored...

I would go under the bleachers and play with whatever I could find, I did however, have favorites. I would find the leftover piles of sunflower seed shells and meticulously go through each one to see if I could find any overlooked, or partial seeds. If I was so lucky to find such a treasure, I would eat it. I always found that the wet ones were harder to handle, I much preferred the already dried variety.

It gets even better though. My other germs of choice were popcorn kernels. There were always an abundance of those. I would find every kernel in the gym and suck whatever flavor off of them I could before discarding them for the next lucky kid to find. I've always wondered why I was sick as a child??

Mish-Mash

I am sorry it's been a while since I have posted anything substantial. No excuses :). As I reflect on what has gone on there isn't anything too terribly exciting, but some things worth mentioning I suppose.
First, Carson FINALLY cut his second tooth today.
He has one big old tooth poking through. He got it a month ago, and it's taken a while for the second to follow suit.
Second, I want to tell you a story...
It all began two Sunday's ago (the 20th). I was sitting in Sunday school when the room started to spin a little. Thinking it was just hot because of all of the bodies packed into one little space, I put my head down hoping that would help. When I did so, I had the urge to throw up. Thinking that sounded worse than passing out, I decided to stay upright and see if I couldn't get myself under control. I battled my nausea and dizzy spell for a while before deciding I wasn't getting anywhere. At that point, I thought it might be a good idea to go sit in the mother's lounge and put my feet up. That didn't help either. After a few near-falls, and increasing nausea, I decided to go home. Since I was unsteady on my feet, I had Dave come with me. The minute I got home, I started vomiting violently and repeatedly. There was only one thing going through my brain at that point..."uh oh, I am pregnant". I sent Dave to ShopKo for a pregnancy test while I white-knuckle gripped the face of the porcelain goddess. When he got back, I took the test, and it read negative...phew. Don't get me wrong folks, I would love lots of kids, but I am NOT ready to be pregnant again quite yet. My condition worsened and Dave and I decided to head into the ER. After some moaning, groaning, vomiting, and even a few tears, we made it. The doctor told me after all of this that I had a bad case of vertigo. Um, isn't Vertigo just a quirky Alfred Hitchcock film?! Nope, it's an incredible uncomfortable condition that makes pregnancy seem like a cake-walk. I was sick for a few days but now I just struggle on occasion when I turn my head too quickly, or "do too much" throughout the day. I do need to mention that Dave was FANTASTIC while I was sick. He cooked, cleaned, took care of the baby and me, and did it all with a smile on his face.
Third, I will explain the stinging nettle.
I really wasn't a very big deal, just kind of annoying. On Pioneer Day, we went hiking with some good friends in our ward. We strapped our babies to our chests, and hiked up to Stewart Falls from Sundance. That path is notorious for stinging nettle so I did a great job of avoiding it while on the hike. When we made it to the falls, I was sitting on a big rock that was natures perfect chair, when I had an uncomfortable burning itch start creeping up my leg. As it turned out, there was a bush of stinging nettle poking out from under a rock wiping itself back and forth across my lower leg. The discomfort didn't last all that long; it actually went away pretty quickly. The next day however, it was way worse than the day before. I even had a goofy little rash. When I say was worse on a scale from 1 to 10, 1 being a sliver, 10 being natural childbirth, it went from a 2 to a three. So really, no biggie - just annoying, kind of like a mosquito bite.
And last...
I have made some fun new friends lately. It is always such a great experience learning more and more about people. Now, that doesn't change the fact that we really miss our friends that have moved away. Could you come back please... pretty please...

Callings (This post has nothing to do with anything)

You can totally ignore this post. Since my blog has become my journal, I wanted to document the callings that I have had up to this point. I plan to print my blog up (or have my parents do it for a Christmas present *hint hint*) and thought it would be fun to list them in chronological order.

Summer 2002 - Primary Pianist/Chorister
Freshman Year - Enrichment Lesson Teacher (this calling no longer exists in the church)
Summer 2003 - Primary Pianist
Sophomore Year - Ward Organist & Visiting Teaching Leader
Summer 2004 - No calling
Junior Year - Ward Temporal Welfare Committee (they didn't even put me here until February)
Summer 2005 - Ward Organist & Relief Society Music Person
Senior Year - Relief Society Teacher
Summer 2006 - Activity Days Leader
August/September 2006 - Primary Pianist
Fall 2006 - Education Counselor in the Relief Society
2007 - Relief Society President
February 2008 through current - Ward Spotlight Specialist & Relief Society Teacher

Now that I am done that was actually really fun to do. I didn't realize I have been in different music callings 5 times!! And, been a teacher of sorts 4 times.
If they had a calling that involved music and teaching at the same time you can bet that it would be mine :) Now, this is not a tag, but mom, I would be really interested to see you do the same thing. What do you think??

Tagged By Jess and Jo

Since I have done my duty with picture posts lately, I thought it would be fun to respond to the tags I've had. Plus, I love the people who have tagged me :).

10 years ago:
I was "going out" with a kid who is now in prison...I think I about gave my mom a heart attack. I broke up with him when I found out he got drunk and some party. Not to worry, I got over that stupid phase quickly. I promise I really was a good kid.

On my to do list today:
Go shopping (per the instructions of my generous in-laws). I think I want to hit up Ross.
Go to Costco
Go to the doctor. I am sick... don't get me started on this one
Make dinner

3 quirky habits I have:
1 - I rub my feet together right before I fall asleep. Sometimes I rub them on Dave - it drives him crazy :)
2 - Every time I sing a hymn I have to go through as many parts as possible. If there is 1 verse I will sing only Soprano. If there are 2 I will sing Soprano and Alto. If there are 3 I will sing Soprano, Alto, and Tenor, and if there are 4 I will sing all four parts.
3 - I LOVE using chopsticks. I use them quite a lot and with totally random food.

3 things you might not know about me:
1 - I am super picky about how my bed is made, maybe even borderline OCD. Dave will make it for me and then put the little decorative pillows in some strange pattern just to tease me.
2 - I LOVE to shoot guns and bows and arrows.
3 - I have had oral surgery. A gum graft - like old people have to have when their gum lines recede. Except... I am not old.

4 shows I enjoy:
So you think you can dance
JEOPARDY!!
American Idol
Family Fued

4 books I enjoy:
The Harry Potter series
The Work and the Glory series
The Joseph Smith Manual (I know I know)
My cookbook

4 jobs I have had:
Receptionist for a Mattress Store
Receptionist for my dad's flooring company
Manager at D.I. (this was an INCREDIBLY challenging job)
Office Manager at Craig B Ainge CPA PC (this was the job I just quit)

5 places I have lived:
Victoria, Texas
Sebastapol, California
Dillon, Montana
Vancouver, Washington
Boise, Idaho

5 favorite foods:
CUCUMBERS!!!
Greenbeans smothered in Ketchup and Mustard
Mint Chocolate Chip Icecream
Junior Mints
Pretty much ALL veggies. I REALLY LOVE veggies

5 movies I have watched more than once:
While You Were Sleeping
Sound of Music
Anne of Green Gables/Avonlea
Princess Bride
Clue

4 things I look forward to in the coming year (so from now until next July):
1 - Hearing Carson say "mama" and "dada"
2 - Dave's graduation
3 - Moving out of college housing
4 - The seasons changing. I do have a favorite season (summer) but I love how Heavenly Father has orchestrated everything so we don't get too bored of the season we love, and are left wanting more. Plus, each season is so beautiful in it's own way.
