"It"

I just wanted to post a quick note to say that my doctor told me at our last visit, that Dave and I can find out the gender of our baby at the next visit. That will be August 21st, and I can't wait! At that point we will either have a little girl, or a little boy, no longer an it. I have decided for the time being to call the baby Taylor. It's one of those names that isn't gender specific. Or maybe Jordan; I think I might like that name better. I promise to post again soon... with pictures, but I did want to updated you all on the baby.

Melanie 101

So I wrote the title of this blog as though it was some sort of course, but then laughed when I realized that fits even better than that. Everyone seems to have an FYI post in their blogs just letting you know a little bit about them. I really like the idea, and love reading everyone elses, so I decided to do the same thing with a 101 things you might or might not know about me. So here it is:

5. I am great at playing mind games with myself. My parents have always told me I have a strong will, but I never really understood what they meant until recently. When I say I play mind games, I mean that I can control my brain to almost a frightening extent. I am my own best psychologist.

I still remember cuddling on the couch with my dad when I was a little girl while we watched Scrooge, and I threw up in the bowl he was holding for me. I also remember how nothing could soothe me so well as my mom stroking my hair, and tucking it behind my ears as I lay there.

Unisom!

I have felt so terribly lately. I am pregnant, and I DID NOT think it would be this bad. I have thrown up quite a bit, so losing weight isn't all terrible... unless there is something inside of you relying on you to feed it well! At about 7 weeks I couldn't keep anything down, so finally at 11 weeks, I tried what my Dr. recommended at my first appointment... Unisom. I was so hesitant to take a sleeping pill because I have to work and didn't want to be drowsy. Well this little pill has been a miracle. I wish I wouldn't have waited so long to start taking it. I still don't feel peachy, but I can at least hold my food a little better. I have been on Unisom for 6 days and have only thrown up one day (today in fact). I have so appreciated the little bit of comfort and help it offers. And don't forget; it is a sleeping pill, so I have been snoozing well each night. I am sure I am the last to figure this special secret out, but for anyone else whom this might apply to, you should definitely try it.
